What is Franceschetti Syndrome?
Franceschetti syndrome, also known as Treacher Collins syndrome, is characterized by malformations in the face and ears.
The cause of the syndrome are genetic changes. About one in 50,000 newborns is born with Franceschetti syndrome, in most cases it is a so-called new mutation.
This means the child exhibits a genetic change
up, which is not present in the parents.
Are father or mother carriers of this genetic
change, there is a 50% chance
to pass it on to the child.
